Our Story

IT STARTED WITH A NEED

Naturally Sassy Soaps didn't begin with a business plan. It began with a need.

In 2018, I was struggling with severe eczema and searching for something simple that my skin could tolerate. When I couldn't find exactly what I needed, I decided to try making it myself.

What started with an unscented bar of handmade soap soon became unscented lotion, then more products as I learned, experimented and listened to what people were looking for.

I wasn't trying to build a product line. I was simply trying to make something that worked for me. As it turned out, other people were looking for those kinds of products too.

FROM ONE PRODUCT TO A BUSINESS

What began as a solution for my own skin slowly started becoming something more. Friends, family and customers began asking for the products, and one product led to another.

Soon, Naturally Sassy was making soaps, lotions, scrubs, bath products and more — all in small batches and with the same thoughtfulness that started it all.

We didn't grow because we set out to become a big company. We grew because our customers kept coming back, telling their friends and asking us to make more.

That support turned a simple idea into a small business — and eventually into something much bigger than I ever imagined.

TAKING NATURALLY SASSY ON THE ROAD

Before there were storefronts, there were tents, tables and a whole lot of loading and unloading.

We packed up Naturally Sassy and took our products to craft shows, festivals and events, meeting customers face-to-face and introducing more people to what we were making.

Those early shows taught us so much. We learned what customers loved, what they came back for and what they wanted us to make next. More importantly, we began building relationships with people who would become loyal Naturally Sassy customers.

One show, one customer and one product at a time, Naturally Sassy kept growing.

FROM CRAFT SHOWS TO A STOREFRONT

As Naturally Sassy continued to grow, so did the dream.

Craft shows and festivals gave us the opportunity to meet our customers, listen to them and learn what they were looking for. But eventually, packing everything up and taking Naturally Sassy on the road wasn't enough. We were ready for a place of our own.

Opening our first storefront gave Naturally Sassy a permanent home—a place where customers could walk in, smell the soaps, discover new products and get to know the little business they had helped us build.

It wasn't fancy, and it certainly wasn't big. But it was ours.

Naturally Sassy finally had a home.

WE WERE RUNNING OUT OF ROOM

What started as a little storefront didn't stay little for long.

As Naturally Sassy grew, we added more products, made larger batches and welcomed more customers. Before long, we were running out of room. Our little shop had helped us grow, but we needed a space that could grow with us.

In 2024, we took a big leap and moved Naturally Sassy into a much larger location in Crossville.

But we didn’t just need more room. We needed a space that could grow with us—and give us the opportunity to do something we had never been able to do before.

In 2024, Naturally Sassy was ready for its next chapter.

A NEW KIND OF NATURALLY SASSY

Moving into our larger Crossville location gave us the opportunity to create the kind of store I had imagined for Naturally Sassy.

We designed it as an open-concept store where shopping and making happen under the same roof. Customers can browse the products while seeing the heart of the business at work—soap being poured and cut, lotions being made, orders being packed, and shelves being filled.

I wanted people to see that “handmade” isn’t just something printed on our labels. It’s what we actually do, every day.

What began with one unscented bar of soap had grown into a real business, a team, and a place where our customers could experience the Naturally Sassy difference for themselves.

And we were still growing.

AND THEN CAME COOKEVILLE

In 2025, Naturally Sassy took another big step.

When I made that first unscented bar of soap in 2018, I never imagined it would one day lead to a second Naturally Sassy location. But seven years later, there we were—surrounded by boxes, empty shelves and a whole lot of pink—getting ready to open Naturally Sassy in Cookeville, Tennessee.

This store was different from anything we had done before. It was bigger, bolder and unmistakably Naturally Sassy. From the pink arches to our logo painted right onto the floor, we wanted it to feel like us the moment you walked through the door.

But opening another store wasn't simply about having another location. It meant introducing Naturally Sassy to a new community while staying true to what got us here in the first place: handmade products, thoughtful ingredients, quality we are proud of and customers we genuinely care about.

What began as something I made because I needed it had become something I never could have built alone.

Naturally Sassy wasn't just growing. We were building something that could last.

BUILT BY MORE THAN ONE PAIR OF HANDS

Naturally Sassy may have started with me, but it didn't grow this far because of me alone.

Somewhere along the way, “I” became “we.”

Behind every shelf of products are people who pour, mix, cut, label, package, stock, clean, help customers, pack orders and do the hundred little things it takes to keep Naturally Sassy going.

Our team has helped turn an idea that started in a small room into something much bigger than I ever expected.

And then there are our customers—the people who bought a bar of soap at a craft show, walked into our first little store, told a friend about us, placed another online order, or came back to see us year after year.

You didn't just support our business. You helped build it.

Naturally Sassy has my name on the story, but there are a whole lot of fingerprints on what it has become.

THE NATURALLY SASSY DIFFERENCE

A lot has changed since I made that first bar of soap in 2018. The batches are bigger. The shelves are fuller. There are more products, more customers, more hands helping, and more than one Naturally Sassy store.

But the reason behind what we do hasn't changed.

We still believe in making products thoughtfully, using ingredients for a reason, and never losing sight of the people who will actually use them. We believe handmade should really mean handmade—and that quality and consistency matter just as much today as they did when I was making those first batches.

We make products that we are proud to put on our shelves, proud to send to your home, and proud to have our name on.

Around here, we call that The Naturally Sassy Difference.

It's more than soap. It's products made with purpose, people who care about what they're making, and a business that still remembers exactly why it started.

Thank you for being part of our story.
